Denver School Support Groups

COMPASS SCHOOL SUPPORT GROUPS

CGEA'S Lighthouse Program provides a limited number of in-school support groups at no charge in the metro Denver area.  Trained facilitators work with the school counselors or social workers to develop grief groups in schools for children who are grieving the death of a loved one, the incarceration of a loved one, or the deployment of a loved one.  Each group is distinct in regard to the type of loss.  A school may have more than one group (i.e., one for death loss and one for incarceration loss).  We conduct pre and post testing to assess the effectiveness of the group and invite teacher feedback regarding participants' behavioral at the beginning and ending of each group.

If you would like to have a group in your school, you may apply by calling (303) 722-2319 and request that an application be emailed to you.  Groups are staffed on a first-come, first-served basis.
